Welcome To The Starbeck Orion Summer Feast Of Poetry And Artwork. Day Eight featuring the poetry of Peter J King
A Feast Of Words And Image
Three poems from “Plate Britannics”:
Birmingham Nottingham Lincoln
These are from a sequence of poems that make a tour around Great Britain (plus the Isle of Man) by way of the area-code letters of car registration numbers. Most letters are divided into two or more areas (as with F”: “Forest & Fens”). I’ve written one ten-line poem for each of the areas, expanded to twenty lines when a region isn’t subdivided (as with “B” for Birmingham).
Peter J. King was active on the London poetry scene in the 1970s,as poet, publisher, editor, performer, broadcaster,& events organiser. Returning to poetry in 2013 after about thirty years’ absence, he’s since published three collections, the most recent being Ghost Webs (The Calliope Script), & has been widely published in journals & anthologies.

B s for Birmingham = phenomenal, love it!
What a fascinating project. I love the "tour of Britain from a different angle" aspect. There are echoes of the school atlas and the shipping forecast in there, along with some real personality.
